INDEPENDENT LABORATORY PROJECT WORKSHEET I
Name:__________________________________________________
The first step in creating a research project is to identify the questions you want to ask. There are several ways to do this, but the most common are to identify your own interests and to look at what is being asked.
1. Identify your own interests
Check the topics in the ideas file on reserve in the library. Which ones interest
you the most and why? If none of them interests you, list alternative physiological
questions you'd like to answer and tell why they interest you.
2. What kind of research is being done on these areas?
Find a recent book/article that discusses your area of interest. You might look among physiological psychology books, books about exercise, pathophysiology, or physiology books.
Look your area of interest up in a recent index. This could be Academic OneFile, Medline, Pubmed, CINAHL, Nursing Index, or any other. Find at least THREE recent references and list them below. For each reference, identify the effects being studied.
